Gerson H. Askenazy
National Nonprofit Director
Gerson H. Askenazy is a National Nonprofit Director with Affordable Housing Advisors (AHA), a specialty group of Marcus & Millichap and the nation’s leading brokerage team that represents sellers and buyers of government-subsidized and tax credit multifamily properties. He oversees AHA’s nonprofit initiative, representing and advising a wide range of nonprofit owners.
Gerson joined AHA in 2019 and currently represents and advises a wide variety of nonprofits ranging from large national groups to local organizations. His clients include faith-based and community-based organizations, government entities (cities, states, housing authorities), private and nonprofit partnerships, nonprofit-sponsored tax credit developments, fraternal organizations, and labor unions. Gerson’s real estate career began in 1995, and in 1998 he joined Marcus & Millichap as a multifamily broker. In 2019, Gerson rejoined Marcus & Millichap and became a member of AHA.
Marcus & Millichap recognized Gerson with the National Achievement Award in 2022.
Gerson is a founding member of The Young Friends of Woodward, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting Detroit’s youth. He has sat on various boards, including the Downtown Detroit Isaac Agree Synagogue, the Woodward Avenue Shul and is an integral member of the Birmingham – Bloomfield Chai Center. He is a strong supporter of local VFW’s in Oakland County, Michigan and other philanthropic organizations throughout the region. Gerson is also a member and supporter of the National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC), the Institute for Responsible Housing Preservation (IRHP), the National Leased Housing Association (NLHA) and the National Housing and Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA).
